Our Story

Luke Baker, a Biomedical Sciences and Medicine graduate, founded MedAhead to inspire and support students from diverse backgrounds pursuing healthcare careers. Starting in one Liverpool high school, it has grown into a nationwide initiative aiding future medics, nurses, dentists, and allied health professionals across the UK.

MedAhead emerged from the idea that every student should access quality healthcare education, no matter their postcode. Since 2019, we’ve collaborated with secondary schools to deliver engaging workshops that clarify healthcare careers and develop skills. Led by healthcare professionals, our programmes include clinical training, mentorship, and personal growth, providing students early healthcare insights.

Each MedAhead programme is tailored with your school to reflect your ethos, values, and student needs. While every school gets a unique experience, here is a sample of standout activities that can be included:

“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn."

“Before the programme, I didn’t think medicine was for people like me. Now I’m in my first year at university studying Medicine.”

What people are saying

“A brilliant idea! It would be great if more industries could give children a real-life, hands-on experience rather than just textbook learning. It really engaged my child.

Parent

“This is more than just a school workshop. Our pupils walked away inspired, informed, and excited about their futures.”
