Martyn’s Law is proposed UK legislation requiring public venues to implement security measures against terrorism, named in honor of Martyn Hett, who was killed in the 2017 Manchester Arena attack. This law will require venues and event organisers to put in place measures to protect the public from terrorist attacks from schools to event venues.

ABOUT MARTYN’S LAW

Who Does Martyn's Law Affect?

Martyn’s Law requires specific premises and events to implement security measures. The law applies to two main tiers:

  • Standard Tier: Premises with a capacity of 100–799 people.
  • Enhanced Tier: Premises holding 800+ people.

In the past, only government or high-profile targets were considered at risk. Today, any public venue can be a credible target, making complacency a dangerous mindset. Martyn’s Law focuses on preventing this by enhancing preparedness across industries like retail, hospitality, and education.
